After a whirlwind few weeks, I’m finally sitting down to update everyone on what’s been happening. While I don’t have a ton of time to write a detailed post right now, I’ll share the important updates and fill in the details later.
First off, I’ve landed a new job! I’ve accepted an offer from North American Video to work as a traveling installer. The job is set to start on July 16th, and while I’m not entirely sure of all the details yet, it sounds like I’ll be traveling to various sites for three weeks or more to install equipment. What’s great about this position is the flexibility—it’s driven by business needs, so I can choose which installations to take on. This setup works perfectly for me as I continue to explore short-term opportunities in other countries. Plus, it’s something I can do when I return to the States.
On the home front, I’m nearly finished refurbishing my new apartment. It’s been quite the project, but I can see the finish line. The kitchen is the last room to paint, and I’ve opted for a super deep color that will require three coats for a perfect finish. The living room and entry hall are all sorted, with new lighting fixtures installed everywhere except the bathroom. I’m holding off on renovating the bathroom until I start the new job. While my rent exchange agreement with the landlord is working out well, I still need to budget for the new sink and cabinet.
While I work on gathering new photos of my place, here’s a shot of the sun setting over the Olympic Mountains from the roof of the new WaMu tower in downtown Seattle. It’s a stunning view that never fails to inspire me.
Stay tuned for more updates and photos as I settle into my new job and apartment!
