I’m finally almost done moving into my new place in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle! It’s just the right mix of close to the markets I love and far enough from the city to be peaceful. But let me tell you, getting here was quite the journey.
First off, let’s talk about the state of the apartment when I first saw it. My buddy Ray, who lived there before me, let’s just say he wasn’t big on cleaning. The bathtub, for example, was a sight to behold. It was obvious Ray hadn’t quite grasped the concept of regular cleaning. The tub had a ring of… something. Turns out, it was a combination of a slow drain and a massive hairball clogging things up. After a few days of scrubbing and re-caulking, the tub was as good as new.
Now, the kitchen… Oh boy, the kitchen. It took me a solid hour and a half just to scrub the floor. Ray’s idea of cleaning seemed to be “let the dirt build character.” The amount of trash I found in the kitchen and living room could have filled a pickup truck. And let’s not even mention the mystery pile of Parmesan cheese next to his bed in the bedroom. Note to self: clean up after your freaky cheese-in-bed sessions, folks.
Despite the initial challenges, I’m thrilled with my new place. I’m even off to battle the Ikea lines for some finishing touches. It’s been an adventure, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
