Rules

Rule #1: Be Kind to Everyone

Being kind to everyone isn’t too difficult for me. I try my best, even with those who may not seem deserving. Despite this, I find it important to continue being kind, even when faced with challenging situations.

Rule #2: Help Others

Helping others can be as simple as offering someone tea or coffee, or giving them a comfortable place to sit. It’s about making someone else’s life a little better without inconveniencing yourself too much.

Rule #3: Keep Work and Personal Life Separate

This rule was hard for me to follow in the past. It stemmed from a time when I worked and lived with someone, and when it ended, we couldn’t do either together. Since arriving in Doha, I’ve tried to maintain this separation, but recent events have made me rethink this rule.

Rule #4: Respect Others’ Personal Lives

When I first met my now ex-wife, she was dating a friend of mine. While dating can be fluid, I ended up losing both my friend and my marriage. It taught me to respect others’ personal lives and decisions.

Rule #5: Avoid Hating People

I’ve recently adopted a new rule: I don’t hate people, I hate the decisions they make. This mindset has made it easier for me to navigate through life’s challenges without holding onto unnecessary resentment.
