It hit me like a ton of bricks last night— in three months, I’ll have circumnavigated the globe by plane. How insane is that?
The journey began in Doha, Qatar, where I hatched this wild plan to jet home for Christmas, or at least in the general vicinity of Christmas. So, off I went on the 28th of December, hopping from Doha to London and then back to Seattle for what was supposed to be a quick weekend jaunt. Little did I know, my “quick” weekend getaway would morph into a 29-hour, 8000-mile odyssey. Yep, that’s right—29 hours for a weekend trip. What does this say about my mental state? Well, let’s just say it’s in need of a bit of a vacation.
From Seattle, I jetted back to Doha, another 8000 miles, but this time, the journey stretched to a staggering 36 hours. Now, some might ask, “Why in the world would you swing by Seattle if you had to come back to Doha before continuing your travels?” The answer is simple: family.
Let’s break down the stats for the first leg of this globetrotting extravaganza:
- 16,000 Miles
- 65 hours
- 4 doses of Nyquil (a pre-trip cold and sleepless nights in Seattle called for desperate measures)
- 2 sleeping tablets (flying without them is like trying to nap on a roller coaster)
- 3 pints (beer is a must when you’re contemplating the insanity of your own travel plans)
- 2 ham sandwiches (because, let’s face it, there’s just something about pork that soothes the soul)
And now, the second leg of this whirlwind adventure kicks off tomorrow at 8:30 PM Doha time, whisking me back to Thailand for a few weeks of who-knows-what. Time to make sure I’ve packed everything, including my sanity!
